Marriage

ECAMFC Position on Marriage

We believe, according to Biblical direction, that marriage is the God-ordained covenant union between one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others and lasting for life. This union is to be established before God and man by a solemn religious ceremony conducted by an authorized minister.

Marriage should reflect the type of loving relationship manifested between Christ and His Church. In such a relationship, the groom and the bride commit to respect, faithfulness, and self-giving love for each other. Only this kind of permanent commitment can provide the basis for the security and trust needed for the existence of a stable family and society.

A Christian community is responsible for supporting and preserving these values.

Accordingly, members of ECAMFC are required to agree with this statement and are only authorized to marry couples fully complying with it. Noncompliance with this position will result in withdrawal of ministerial credentials.
